The Achievement in the Arts Awards is Westmoreland Cultural Trust’s annual celebration of exceptional young artists across our region. Established in 1999 by Judge Debra Pezze and Judge Richard McCormick, the awards were created to honor high school seniors who demonstrated remarkable artistic talent, leadership, and promise. The Cultural Trust later assumed stewardship of the program, continuing the founders’ vision while expanding its reach and impact through The Academy.
This signature event recognizes high school performers, creators, technicians, and future arts leaders who show outstanding dedication, creativity, and growth within their craft. Honorees are selected through a countywide nomination process that elevates students whose artistic work and service enrich the cultural landscape of Westmoreland County.
The ceremony brings together families, educators, community leaders, and professional artists for an inspiring evening inside the historic Palace Theatre. The event showcases student achievement, amplifies emerging talent, and reinforces the Trust’s commitment to building pathways for the next generation of performers, designers, and arts professionals.
